June 10, 2013

A.      I collected bees from the old Beaufort School

B.     June 22 is Wild Caught in Gloucester, Tia

C.      Summer NCSBA meeting, July 12

7.       Old Business:

A.      We still need a few more volunteers to bring refreshments to our meeting.

B.      Followup on repair / refinishing the observation hive.

8.       Dwayne Mercer and Gus Dowdy are going to show and tell putting frames together and loading foundation.  Also Marian will do a record keeping update on her way of keeping records. Maybe we can get some input from others record keeping.

9.        We will have an expert panel during the night and lots of conversations about beekeeping.

C.      Russ, Harkers Island 2nd Grade demo.

D.      Tia, comments on Certified Beekeepers test.

E.       Russ, we need a volunteer to repair / refinish the observation hive.

F.       We need a few items for door prizes.

G.      I have the Refractometer here if you would like to check your honey for moisture content

8.       Our Guest Speaker tonight is Will Hicks.  He is the NC apiary inspector for the Wake, Johnston & counties north in NC.  This is also a time to ask questions and discuss problems or ideas about bees.

8.       Our Guest Speaker tonight is Julian Wooten .  He is the 1st Vice President of the NCSBA.  He is a blueberry and strawberry farmer.  He has been keeping bees for years. He will be speaking a little about the up coming state meeting and what is going on with his bees. Any time someone talks about what is going on with their bees, is always beneficial to us all.

8. Our Guest Speaker tonight is Craig Foskit. Craig is a former President of Craven Pamlico Beekeepers. He has been keeping bees since the end of the 80s.
He said he will talk on late winter to lead into Spring management.
